I was thinking of the cleansing smell of pine wafting through the house, then I thought of all those needles falling onto the floor and having to sweep them up…daily. I thought of the lovely shade of green a real pine tree has, then I thought of the brown it turns as it slowly dies along with all the hopes and dreams of a Christmas that lasts forever. Tear.
Well, I chickened out! I was THIS close to buying a real tree until I focused on what I would be left with after Christmas…a growing green waste pile.
“I’m pretty handy” is an understatement. So I picked up the tools and made our own Christmas tree from leftover mdf, leftover house paint, masking tape (for my stencil) and last years Christmas lights. Voila! A no mess Christmas tree. It’s super cute and cost me nothing but about 2 hours work. Obviously, I need a larger present stash because it’s looking a little lonely.
Are you braving a real tree or going alternative this year?
