After getting over the shock of the purple and leopard components of the bedhead, the room isn’t too bad. I can certainly see how someone would fall in love with this and for others it would be something they just cannot live with. A fair cry from the other more palatable rooms, purple is often perceived as a royal colour.
Style: Animals prints
Lets talk about the leopard print bedhead. Neale loved it and Shaynna hated it coupled with the purple. There is definately room for animal prints in safari type rooms and I like it against the grass cloth. I don’t really see it working as a whole in this bedroom scheme, however, Dea and Daz were forced to use their winning creation in this bedroom. So, really, like everyone else, they already had their bedroom planned and then they had to fit in their “wonderful creations”. That would have been tough. I believe they did the best with what they had. Alot of the time, this isn’t far from the truth of many of us out there. We all seem to have a piece of furniture that we can’t get rid of just yet, that clashes with the rest of the scheme.
Dea is really good at balancing tonal contrasts , colours and textures. This is what the room looks like in black and white. Very well balanced. It becomes lighter towards the middle of the bed. In this way, you are enveloped like a big hug.
This is a break down of the colour scheme. A dark, sultry backdrop of texture using the grass cloth and matched carpet with warm timber accents and layers of natural linen in whites, slight taupe, greys and purples. And leopard, don’t forget the leopard!
