Winners : Josh and Charlotte (technically)
What a drama this was! Josh and Charlotte with a perfect score of 30/30, only to be disqualified for not using their hideous competition bed head! Oh well. I don’t know how they achieved the score because to me this room is not only massive, but very plain.
They painted the standard pine trusses white and exposed them but painted nail plate is not something I jump in the air for. Adding to this, no artwork, no bed cushions or throws and the walk in robe is practically empty although, it is built well. It’s not “understated”, it’s unfinished.
Best design feature to steal: Exposed trusses (but make sure they are something pretty! Hardwood timbers with architectural nuts, bolts and steel plate go a long way against painted pine and standard galvanised nail plate!
Actual winners: Dea and Daz
Love this master bedroom! It is very seductive and I’m even happy that the sea grass is a very dark charcoal and that it acts as a beautiful backdrop. A beautiful colour scheme of linens, white, timber and silver finishes and well balanced. Luxurious linen bed linens from Halemercantileco.com.au as usual. They are wonderfully soft.
Best design feature to steal: Create a backdrop by painting dark walls and use lighter furniture. Second feature to consider is a modern four post bed.

Lovely change of colour scheme but where is that gorgeous sea grass? Comments were made that this room is just a copy of the 1st bedroom but in a different colour scheme but nothing was said about Dea and Daz doing the same. I think the frames above the bed would look better if they were less bold but apart from that, it’s great, even twice.
Design feature to steal: Feminine colour palette.
Jess and Ayden
A very different room this time to previous, although they can never seem to get it right with the judges. I love the use of timber how it’s repeated in more than one place in the room and they seem to have used more items in decorating the space. Not my cup of tea for a master bed however, it’s a nicely different room.
I do like to store things in my bedside table…glasses, phone charger, book. You also need somewhere to stash bed cushions and linen you are not using over night. A single drawer bedside with a low shelf is ideal for this.
Design feature to steal : Repetition. To help form a mood or connection in a room, repeat a colour, material or texture. In this case, it is timber. Can you spot repetition in the other rooms?
